You can now buy Tesla tequila made by Elon Musk: the bottle costs 250 dollars

It seemed like a joke, but no: it has arrived Teslaquila, Tesla’s tequilaBut where does Elon Musk’s latest madness come from?

In April 2018, during April Fool’s Day, the quirky CEO wanted to play a joke on his followers. The founder tweeted that the company was about to go bankrupt and was now going to turn to producing tequila. The tweet was accompanied by an image of Musk supposedly fainted after emptying several bottles of what they called Teslaquila.

Well, that wasn’t so far from the truth. The company hasn’t gone bankrupt yet (as far as we know), but the executive has decided to apply for the patent for the Teslaquila from the US regulator and make the Tesla brand alcoholic beverage bottle a realityas stated Electrek.

The tTesla’s team It was available on their website (and we say was because it has already sold out) for $250 (about 211 euros), and could only be purchased in the United States, and specifically in those states that allow the distribution of alcohol.

According to the same source, Tesla has partnered with We Tequila to produce the drink and with the company Speakeasey Co. for distribution.

Tesla’s 25 Greatest Moments of the Past 16 Years

It is not the first time that Elon Musk decides to launch a product that has nothing to do with the core of the company. Among the founder’s ideas are objects as diverse as jackets and surfboards.

The bottle design simulates a lightning bolt and is sold with the following description:

“Introducing Tesla Tequila, an exclusive 100% Agave Aged Tequila. A premium, small-batch agave made from sustainably sourced highland and lowland agaves. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and a hand-blown glass bottle, Tesla Tequila features a dry fruit and light vanilla aroma with a balanced cinnamon and pepper finish, making for a delightful sipping experience.”

The fact that the tequila was aged for 15 months may explain why Tesla took so long between announcing the product and its commercialization.

Or perhaps it’s just Musk’s way of spending his free time after the SEC, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (the equivalent of the CNMV in Spain) forced him to resign from his position as chairman of Testa and pay a $20 million fine (16.8 million euros) for making misleading public statements. Who knows.
