Why is it that when an animal dies we say that it crosses the rainbow?

It is always hard to lose our pets, those faithful friends who offer you unconditional love and are incapable of the slightest malice. However, all living beings must fulfill their circle of life and their souls must return to where they belong, which according to the legend of the Rainbow Bridge, is a very special place.

This is an anonymous legend, which has several versions because it has been transmitted from generation to generation, and then on the Internet, among animalist networks. Sharing it is often a great way to help a child cope with the loss of a pet.

the rainbow bridge

Legend has it that when our four-legged angels return to their eternal home, the Rainbow Bridge awaits them, a multicolored heavenly bridge, and when they cross it they will find meadows and hills where they can run, play and enjoy themselves in all their innocence, forever.

On the other side of the bridge there is enough water, food and electricity for everyone to be comfortable. Also, those who were cruelly mistreated will be rejuvenated upon reaching the other side.

Some say that in principle, only animals that were loved by humans will be able to cross the Rainbow Bridge to a happy and peaceful eternal life. This may make you sad, thinking that these cute animals deserve the opportunity to be happy after a difficult life in which they were treated harshly by their owners and other people, but they also have the possibility to see another side.

From time to time, the soul of an animal lover goes up to the Rainbow Bridge, the soul of a gentle person who dedicated his life to giving love to his pets and living beings in general. Upon ascending, he will give love to abused pets, heal their wounds and allow them access to his paradise, where they will live peacefully forever.

Finally, pets that were loved in life will be reunited with their owners when they too pass away, and they can continue to show their love forever.

And what do you think? Do you think our pets will find eternal peace when they perish? Or is it just a legend?
