Why do some people’s eyes change color?

The looks of intense and unusual tones arouse both curiosity and a certain magnetism in us. But in the world, about 70% of the population has dark eyes.

Of the light colors, moreover, only 2% of all the inhabitants of the planet have green eyes. Although according to scientists we all had brown eyes in the beginning, a genetic mutation reduced the production of melanin. That is why there are those who have irises of green tones.

Beyond this rarity, green eyes have another quality. According to a study published by the Impulse Corporation of Los Angeles, it is the only color that can vary according to both the weather and the mood. That is why they can be seen at times more blue, gray, with more intense green tones, or more brownish.

People with green eyes are thought to be more emotionally sensitive. In fact, according to a study by the University of Massachusetts they are “more likely to sensitize emotions because of their relationship with other genetic parts of the brain.” That is, it postulates that the cells of the green iris are linked to a more developed part of the system limbic and the amygdala, responsible for emotions and feelings.

In this regard, Dr. anthony fallone of the University of Edinburgh points out that: “The eye is so closely linked neurologically to the brain that you could say is the only part of our brain that can be seen from the outside.

On the other hand, according to some branches of non-traditional medicine, there could also be a relationship between the color of the iris and the state of the body’s organs. The consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables in abundance could also change the hue towards a lighter and more vivid color, due to the elimination of toxins.

Finally, there are some people in whom there is an unusual phenomenon in which the eyes change color uniformly. It is a very personal characteristic and its cause has not been found in problems associated with sight. It could be linked to processes in the nervous and endocrine systems. It is believed that this type of eyes reacts with its changes to stress, fatigue, atmospheric changes, among other experiences.
