You may know one or more people who are the same age as you but who almost always look younger than everyone else, and it is not a surgical procedure or a deliberate attempt on the part of that person to look that way. So how do they do it? Are they blessed by their genes?
Scientists from Duke University in North Carolina, United States, revealed that it is not purely about genetics, as much as it seems that it is. The study began in 2010 and looked at 954 people whose dates of birth were between 1972 and 1973. They followed them for 8 years and are now presenting the results.
During the investigation it was found that the subjects were experiencing changes in 18 factors related to agingincluding blood pressure, lung function, cholesterol, body mass index, inflammatory processes, and DNA integrity.
With this knowledge, it was decreed that old age does not depend purely on genetic issues, but on the individual lifestyle, which can be improved.
The scientists determined that the measures to be taken to prolong the state of youth are a correct and healthy dietmaintaining a proper weight for your height and body type, low stress levels, a healthy immune system, exercising, and eliminating or avoiding harmful habits such as tobacco.
While it is true that many people seem blessed by their genes, the truth is that the power to maintain an appearance is, for the most part, in our hands.
