Recommended areas to stay in Mexico City
Stay in the Historic Center of CDMX
One of the most recommended areas for all those who travel to Mexico City for tourism and who want to discover the history of the city. The Historic Center is made up of about 10 square kilometers centered on the Plaza de la Constitución, known colloquially as El Zócalo.
In this area there are many attractions such as the Cathedral, the Palace of Fine Arts, as well as a wide variety of museums. Depending on the street where you choose to stay, the price will vary, but so will the quality.
For some, the number of people and cars in the center can be suffocating, so if you are one of them, but you want to be close to the historic center, you should look for accommodation near Alameda Central. This is where important hotels such as the Hilton Mexico City Reforma are located.
In this area I have stayed in the City Center hotel, a place that will surprise you with its terrace overlooking the Latin American Tower. The rooms cost from 1500 MXN for 2 people with breakfast included, that is, about 75 USD. More details and reservation here.
In this same area, another option is the Domingo Santo Hotel Boutique hotel with rooms from 1500 MXN / 75 USD. 500 meters from the Post Office Palace. My favorite place in the hotel is its terrace overlooking the Plaza de Santo Domingo. More details and reservation here.
Cheap accommodation in Mexico City
If you are looking for something cheap in Mexico City, an option would be to stay in a hostel and at Selina’s you will find beds in shared rooms from 250 MXN / 12 USD per night. There are also private rooms with shared bathrooms for only 600 MXN or 30 USD. And if you use my code “” you receive 10% off. You can reserve here.
Staying in Polanco in CDMX
Polanco’s exclusive shops, hotels and restaurants make it one of the most elegant areas of the city, recommended for both business visitors and tourists seeking luxury. For its part, La Condesa mainly attracts young adults looking to have a good time on one of the many terraces in the area. Cafes, ice cream parlors, bars and restaurants characterize this neighborhood of Mexico City.
Among these three areas is the Chapultepec Forest, a 678-hectare urban park famous not only for its flora and fauna, but also for housing important tourist attractions such as the National Museum of Anthropology and History, the David Alfaro Siqueiros Museum of Public Art, the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art and the Chapultepec Castle.
The hotels recommended by in the area are the W Mexico City, with rooms from 300 USD or 6 thousand MXN. A cheaper alternative would be the Alteza Polanco, with rooms from 1500 MXN or 75 USD. More details and reservation here.
