What vaccines does the United States accept?
The WHO list of vaccines for emergency use that are used to enter the United States are:
- Pfizer/BioNtech – 2 doses required
- AstraZeneca (from AstraZeneca/Oxford) – 2 doses required
- Janssen (from Johnson & Johnson) – 1 dose
- Moderna – approved April 30, 2021 – 2 doses required
- Sinopharm – 2 doses necessary
- Sinovac-Coronavac – 2 doses necessary
- Tired – 1 dose
Can I travel to the United States without a vaccine?
To enter the United States without a vaccine you need to be in one of the following cases:
- Citizens and immigrants
- People who are part of diplomatic delegations or official delegations of foreign governments
- Children under 18 years of age
- People with documented medical contraindications to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine
- People participating in trials for certain COVID-19 vaccines
- People with an emergency or humanitarian exception
- Persons with valid visas who are citizens of a foreign country with limited availability of COVID-19 vaccines
- Members of the United States Armed Forces and their spouses or children (under 18 years of age)
- Maritime crew members traveling on a C-1 or D nonimmigrant visa
- Persons whose income is considered to be of national interest, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Transportation or the Secretary of Homeland Security (or whoever they designate)
