Vigil
From Latin vigil, vigil is the act of being awake or awake. It is, in this sense, a state of awareness that precedes the dream. For example: “After almost thirty hours of vigil, I can finally go to sleep”, “I look forward to the end of the child’s vigil”, “Víctor sleeps more than he is awake”.
The vigil can also be the intellectual work that is developed from evening or the work produced in this way: “I have written over a hundred pages in my waking hours”, “The poet wrote his best works during the summer watches”, “The singer recorded the last song on the album on vigil”.

The vigil as a prior instance and in the military sphere
By extension, it is known as wakefulness day or the moments that precede or cause a certain thing: “The victim’s relatives called a vigil in front of the court to await the ruling”, “The vigil of the final seemed like an eternity: I really wanted to go out and play”, “The vigil lasted five hours until the artist came out to greet his followers”.
Likewise, in the military world the word at hand is also used. In this case it is used to refer to all the parts in which the night is divided in order to establish the guards of the soldiers. The goal is for the barracks to be protected at all times, since there will always be personnel watching over its safety and that no intruder can enter it or cause any damage.

Within the religious field, we can also say that the term vigil is used to refer to the office of any liturgical act that is carried out in memory of one or more deceased with a church as the setting.
The Christian religions are those that celebrate what is called the Pascual Vigil. This becomes one of its most significant festivities and takes place during the period from Holy Saturday to what is Resurrection Sunday. With it what is tried is to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
This celebration gives rise to the existence of another series of terms such as Cirio Pascual. This is a large candle that is lit in churches to represent light and the aforementioned resurrection.
