Definition of
trapezoid
A Greek word came to our language as trapezoida term used in the geometry and in the anatomy. As a geometric concept, a trapezoid is a irregular type quadrilateral that lacks parallel sides.
The trapezoids are polygons: plane figures that are formed by a finite number of consecutive and straight segments. Polygons with four sides are called quadrilaterals. The characteristics of quadrilaterals also indicate that they have two diagonals and four vertices and that, when adding their interior angles, the result is 360ยบ.

Having said all this, we can detail that the trapezoid is a polygon (flat figure) that is qualified as an irregular quadrilateral (it has four sides which are not the same).
In addition to all of the above, we must underline the existence of various types of trapezoids, among which the following stand out:
-Asymmetric trapezoid. It is also known by the name of scalene trapezoid and is characterized by the fact that all its sides are different.
-symmetric trapezoid or bisosceles trapezoid. It is identified because it is symmetrical with respect to the longest diagonal, because it has two pairs of equal consecutive sides, and because it has a pair of opposite angles that are also equal. Moving to the field of anatomythe trapezoid is a short bone which is in the doll. This spongy bone has a total of six faces (including two articular faces). The trapezoid articulates with the capitate bone, the trapezius bone, the second metacarpal, and the scaphoid bone.
