What is out of home (OOH) advertising?

Definition of out of home (OOH) advertising

Out of home advertising is that type of advertising that takes place outdoors and in public spaces and which aims to capture the attention of customers outside the home. Advertisements that are installed on street furniture, such as benches or bus stops, or on billboards and signs, as well as in other spaces enabled for this, would fall within this category.

This type of advertising aims to attract the attention of passersby, who will be able to remember that advertisement only if it manages to impact or surprise. This means that not everything works in OOH advertising.

Difference between out of home and digital out of home (DOOH) advertising

In addition to out-of-home advertising, there is also out of home digital advertising. Unlike OOH, DOOH is that which is displayed on dynamic billboards. In this case the ad is multimedia content that is projected through screens. One of the main advantages of this type of advertising is that it can launch several simultaneous messages. Of course, like OOH, it is also shown outdoors.

Out of home ads sometimes have a high cost, but on some occasions they have proven to be much more effective than any digital marketing campaign, so it is worth considering this option.
