What is “Clean Look” and what are the risks of this trend on TikTok?

In recent times and due to the demands of social networks, trends have been created in an attempt to break with everyday life, in addition to satisfying the human need for interaction and belonging to a group with similar tastes to those of each of the users.

These trends range from creating dances, for example on TikTok, using audio as a joke, a makeup style and more. But some others turn out to be dangerous for those who try to fulfill them.

The creators of these trends can be any user of social networks and it is possible that most of these are carried out without any lewd purpose or with the intention of offending a certain sector of the population, however, there have been a couple of these trends who have offended more than one.

The clean look is a new trend created in order to show a new style of makeup and hairstyle, which consists of showing skin preferably free of imperfections so that the face looks completely smooth, without textures or marks of any kind, light makeup and a hairstyle with the hair completely collected and thus covering the face as little as possible.

  • But what are the consequences?

Some of the Internet users have been affected by this new aesthetic trend since, fortunately, for some time now, what has been the most talked about in networks is the acceptance of our body, its shape, its color and everything that constitutes it.

It is for this reason that when creating a trend that shows what is stigmatized as a “perfect face”, and that is conceived mostly for white people, one falls back into the mistake of pointing out what is good and what is not of our bodies.

This can affect various people even more than the fashion and aesthetics industry has already affected them on a psychological level of how our body is and how it “should” be, causing constant rejection and frustration for those who do not have these characteristics physically.

As users of these social networks that promote the creation of trends without thinking about the repercussions, what we can do is try to know what we consume and ask ourselves if by creating one of these new trends, we are not falling into the exclusion of those people who without be their choice, they do not have the same opportunities and characteristics. In the case of the clean look, it is one more option for makeup and hairstyle, but the background can also have a negative impact on people.
