Do you have a wide angle lens? Join this week’s challenge.
How does it work? (Reminder)
Every week I will propose a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in a photograph and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic. The themes will be varied, from portraits to Macro photography, through landscapes, black and white photography, or babies. The topics will be proposed on Saturdays, so that you have the whole weekend to work on them. You will have one week to upload your photograph (one photo per participant), until Friday of the following week. On Friday or Saturday I will update the article with the photo that has captivated me the most and I will propose a new topic, and so on…
Weekly Challenge 54: Wide Angle
This week Iaio told us about the focal length of a lens and the different ranges there are and the type of photography they were used for. This week I would like to focus the challenge on a particular type of lens: the Wide Angle. A lens that ranges from 8 or 10mm to approximately 25mm, and that significantly influences the optical result that we achieve in a photograph. Ideally, these types of lenses are ideal for landscapes, skies, nature, etc., but with a little care they could also be used for portraits, pets, etc.
The theme or subject this week is totally free. What is essential is to use a wide-angle lens at a reasonably small focal length.
As usual, to participate in this week’s challenge upload your photo to the Facebook wall of the Photographer’s Blog: In the description of the photo please mention the keyword “Wide Angle Challenge” followed by a title of your choice.
Alternative Means to Participate
For those of you who are not from Facebook I have enabled new social networks to participate.
- Flickr: accessing the Group Mural of the Photographer’s Blog and uploading the photo directly. Give your photo a caption and be sure to mention “Wide Angle Challenge” in the same.
- Twitter: uploading the photo directly to Twitter with the hashtag #ChallengeWideAngleBDF
Happy Photography.
Update
If you are still not sure whether to buy that wide-angle lens, the selection that I bring you this time will end up convincing you, but very convinced 🙂 In it you can see different situations that can be used a lot thanks to this type of lens.

This week I prefer «Warsaw», by J. Ezquerro. A wide, symmetrical and almost bi-color composition that inevitably guides the viewer’s eye towards the main subject. I love the contrast of sizes between the smallness of the subject and the greatness of the natural elements that surround it.
A great photograph. Congratulations to the photographer and to all of you who have participated in the challenge.
