Welcome to another edition of the Weekly Challenge. This week we will practice photographing a part of the body that can give a lot of play in photography: the hands.
How does it work? (Reminder)
Every week I will propose a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in a photograph and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic. The themes will be varied, from portraits to Macro photography, through landscapes, black and white photography, or babies. The topics will be proposed on Saturdays, so that you have the whole weekend to work on them. You will have one week to upload your photograph (one photo per participant), until Friday of the following week. On Friday or Saturday I will update the article with the photo that has captivated me the most and I will propose a new topic, and so on…
Weekly Challenge 35: Hands
The hands are an essential part of the human body, with them we eat, write, photograph, greet and hug. With them we also defend ourselves, hit, fish and drive. For this reason, throughout history the hand has acquired a special meaning for almost all peoples: in some cultures it is used as a symbol against the evil eye, in others it is an open book in which the evil can be clearly inferred. a person’s future. This week the challenge will be to photograph a hand(s) but not just in any way: it has to be a photograph with content. Hand by hand is not worth it. It has to reflect something, to communicate a story, a message, a purpose. I need to see a portrayed hand that does not leave me indifferent.
As usual, to participate in this week’s challenge upload your photo to the Facebook wall of the Photographer’s Blog: In the description of the photo please mention the keyword “Hands Challenge” (be careful with the spelling) followed by a title of your choice.
Alternative Means to Participate
For those of you who are not from Facebook I have enabled new social networks to participate.
- Flickr: accessing the Group Mural of the Photographer’s Blog and uploading the photo directly. Give your photo a caption and be sure to mention “Hands Challenge” in the same.
- Twitter: uploading the photo directly to Twitter with the hashtag #ChallengeManosBDF
Thanks for participating.
Update
Thank you to all of you who participated in this week’s “Hands” challenge. Generally, the challenges that revolve around some part of the human body tend to come loaded with emotions and small personal stories like the ones that each of the following photos tells. Congratulations to all of you who have picked up the glove this week by participating with a photo, although it does not appear here, the simple fact of participating in the exercise is already overcoming the challenge.

This week Jose Ese Erre managed to collect a good dose of love and tenderness through his snapshot, “Welcome”. He has used more than one element to capture the viewer’s gaze: adequate focus, elegantly broken rule of thirds thus increasing the importance of the two hands that appear in contact, a correct command of depth of field as an element that reinforces the central point , and finally a vignetting that stimulates our gaze to focus on the center of the frame.
Good job Josh. I’m lovin ‘it.
