This week’s challenge merges two passions at the same time, photography and gastronomy. Welcome to a new edition of the Weekly Challenge.
How does it work? (Reminder)
Every week I will propose a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in a photograph and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic.
The themes will be varied, from portraits to Macro photography, through landscapes, black and white photography, or babies.
The topics will be proposed on Saturdays, so that you have the whole weekend to work on them. You will have one week to upload your photograph (one photo per participant), until Friday of the following week. On Saturday I will update the article with the photo that has captivated me the most and I will propose a new topic, and so on…
Weekly Challenge 19: Gastronomy
This week’s challenge revolves around the table. Your mission is to cook something delicious, serve it and photograph it. Well okay, nothing happens if others cook it, but at least take a cool photo. You already know that food enters the eye first. There is no self-respecting restaurant business that does not have a good photographer hired to portray in the best possible way those dishes that they are trying to sell.
For the challenge you can photograph the dish you want. A stone-grilled steak, a hamburger with melted cheese, some green mojo potatoes, grilled prawns, baked fish, a birthday cake or some muffins or cupcakes. It can be any dish or dessert you have prepared. Do you want more ideas? Search with the word gastronomy on Pinterest, it will give you thousands of ideas.
You can also read my article with tips for food photography. It will give you some idea about what to do and what to avoid when doing food photography.
As usual, to participate in this week’s challenge upload your photo to the Facebook wall of the Photographer’s Blog: In the description of the photo please mention the keyword “Gastronomic Challenge” followed by a title of your choice.
Alternative Means to Participate
For those of you who are not from Facebook I have enabled new social networks to participate.
- Flickr: accessing the Group Mural of the Photographer’s Blog and uploading the photo directly. Give your photo a caption and be sure to mention “Gastronomic Challenge” in the same.
- Twitter: uploading the photo directly to Twitter with the hashtag #BDFGastronomicChallenge
Bon Appetite!
Update
Here I am with the update of the weekly challenge 19 on Gastronomy. 2 things have become clear this week: among the readers of the Photographer’s Blog there are very good photographers but also great chefs. Sample of it the recipes that you have portrayed (and in some cases prepared) this week.
José Omar M. Isselin – Pico de gallo sauce
Susana Barone – Ricoooo
María Alejandra Almeida – I will await your inconsolable return to the heat of chocolate
FaniTorres – Goat Cheese Salad
Emmanuel Rosales – Fruits
Luiz pola – just one drink
Mary Sampa – Gastronomy
Mauricio del Villar – Mexican Arrachera
Michel alejandra Chávez casal – MOM´S CUPCAKE
Sol Romero – Ummm yummy!!
Alejandra Spinoza – Simply Spaghetti
Hans Lucero R. – Chicken breast in orange sauce
In fact, there have been many more cool photos than I could upload in this small illustrative selection, but I especially liked Walter’s snapshot «Langostinos a la Chalaca», not only because of my irrational love of prawns, but above all because of the successful composition of colors of the plate (the color green and its connotations of health). The color of the plate, white, blends with that of the white tablecloth as well, to make the prawn skewers the main protagonist element.
Congratulations 😉
