Weekly Challenge 129: Mystery

This week’s challenge is a mystery, and not because it doesn’t tell you what the subject is about, but because you have to achieve a photograph that inspires mystery. You dare?

How does it work? (Reminder)

Every week I will propose a new challenge, it is a topic that you will have to capture in a photograph and upload it to the Facebook page of the blog, putting in the description the keyword that I will indicate for each topic. The themes will be varied, from portraits to Macro photography, through landscapes, black and white photography, or babies. The topics will be proposed on Saturdays, so that you have all the Weekend to work them. You will have one week to upload your photograph (one photo per participant), until Thursday of the following week. On Thursday or Friday I will update the article with the photo that has captivated me the most and I will propose a new topic, and so on…

Weekly Challenge 129: Mystery

To make sure you practice the tips we give you on the blog, which is what it’s all about, I challenge you to achieve a mysterious photograph. A few weeks ago we published the article How to add an element of mystery to your photos. If you haven’t put it into practice, now is the time. We want to see if you are applying or not 😉

Take a look at this other article with examples if you need inspiration. It’s a big challenge, I know, but I also know that it’s fun and that you can do it. And you know it too 😉 Go ahead!

As usual, to participate in this week’s challenge upload your photo to the Facebook wall from the Photographer’s Blog: In the description of the photo please mention the keyword “Mystery Challenge” followed by a title of your choice.

Alternative Means to Participate

For those who do not be from Facebook I have enabled new social networks to participate.

  • Flickr: accessing the Group Mural of the Photographer’s Blog and uploading the photo directly. Give your photo a caption and be sure to mention “Mystery Challenge” in the same.
  • Twitter: uploading the photo directly to Twitter with the hashtag #BdFMysteryChallenge

Happy photography.

Update

I leave you with a gallery of photographs full of mystery. If you have participated, thank you, and if you haven’t been encouraged yet… what are you waiting for? Tomorrow Friday new challenge, don’t miss it!

On this occasion I feel that all the photos are worthy of being highlighted for the effort and enthusiasm that each of them contains. Every week you put a tremendous enthusiasm into participating in the challenge and I recognize that there are weeks, like this one, in which we make it a little more difficult. Thank you, you are the best!

But the “game” consists in highlighting only one and this time I am left with the image of Iria Pesqueira Souto. “Her twisted skin of her” is a photograph that impresses for its quality and for what it transmits. The author has managed to imbue this portrait with mystery through the low-key technique and the model’s gesture. The anguish that the protagonist transmits, enhanced by placing most of the space behind instead of where the gaze is directed, and her expression, make you wonder what is happening to her, if there is something paranormal prowling or if it is something that has usurped your mind. It is a photograph that suggests a story and raises many more questions, in short, a complete mystery… Congratulations to Iria and the rest of the participants!
