United Arab Emirates creates artificial rains to combat heat wave. A somewhat extreme measure, but which has already given the first results with incorporated downpours. Big surprise for many!

A technology developed in the UK
A few months ago, the news spread that the United Arab Emirates would use drones to electrify the clouds and cause rain in the face of droughts. It was a plan that had been brewing and that many considered a chimera.
However, the first results have already been obtained. The technology used is known as “cloud seeding”, as it consists of spraying the clouds with certain substances that trigger chemical reactions.
It is in England where the strategy of using drones to catapult rain begins to be developed. For it; silver iodide and dry ice are released onto the clouds. Also, some electrical discharges are performed.
During the dates of July 14 and 15, the first rainfall was achieved
This has been reported by the Emirati National Meteorological Center. Rainfall was recorded in the locations of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. These areas had been suffering from an intense drought, which was extremely detrimental to its inhabitants.
On the other hand, the artificial rains had an unexpected sequel: winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour. It was necessary to issue an alert since this wind force moved a large amount of sand.
It must be remembered that the country has a desert geography. Also, that the soils have a dryness accumulated by the drought. Therefore, sudden winds cause a lot of dust to mix with storm water.
It is important to say that the population of the cities with rains caused by drones celebrated the event. People took to the streets to see the drops fall from the sky, surprised after entire months of absolute drought.
The drones have become a technological tool
It has even been thought of using drones to reforest the planet. The idea is that these devices throw seeds over deforested areas, especially in geographical regions with difficult access or difficult transit.
In this case, they have been used to produce rainfall. An interesting resolution given the lack of precipitation, which is something that is aggravated by the hot wave of the northern hemisphere. Without a doubt, this is excellent news.

What other uses can these flying devices have? The truth is that each time they demonstrate better flight capacity, incorporating new options. In the future, they will surely be tools of constant use.
