U2’s Bono gave a “concert for peace” at a kyiv metro station

Irish singer Bono, leader of the band U2, gave a spontaneous concert on Sunday (05.08.2022) from a kyiv metro station, as a personal contribution to peace and coinciding with the so-called Victory Day over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II in Europe.

“We all pray with you that you can achieve peace soon,” Bono said, according to a video posted on the “Youtube” platform by various Ukrainian portals, alluding to the bloody Irish conflict and the war that Ukrainians are now suffering.

The Irish singer and activist took the microphone and performed for the groups of citizens gathered at the station some mythical pieces from his repertoire, such as “Desire” and “Withorwithout you”, although the crucial moment came when he sang “Stand by me”.

Bono’s performance came as a surprise, without prior notice, and within the singer’s activities in humanitarian causes in various parts of the world, be it in situations of war, against famine or against global havoc.
