To know the history of that day we must go back to the XIX century and with the historical character of Simon Bolivarwho proposed the creation of a association of american countries.

With this idea was born in 1890 what is known as the Union of American Republics. Although later, in 1910, it was renamed the Pan American Union and 38 years later it was finally called Organization of American States (OAS). But we have to wait until April 14, 1931 to make it official.

How is Americas Day celebrated on April 14?

The educational centers carry out different activities to celebrate this special day. Both parades, contests, dances and other celebrations are some of the ways to commemorate this day.

Above all, there is an act that is repeated in all places and countries and that is the singing of the Anthem of the Americas, composed by Rodolfo Sciammarella, in which all the countries that make up the Organization of American States (OAS) are represented.

Although the anthem has several versions, the best known is the version that does not include Cuba, which was expelled between 1962 and 2009.
