A29 in Guanajuato

Located in the heart of Guanajuato, a 3-minute walk from the Juárez Theater and the Jardín de la Unión, this hostel takes the concept of “feeling at home” to another level. It is managed by a young couple who breaks the hostel concept in many ways but to give you much more. They have never stayed in a hostel, so their concept was to give A29 what they would like to receive on a trip: breakfast without schedules, towel and lock included, a lot of cleanliness in all areas and a very good atmosphere. Their prices start at 200 pesos per night, there are private and shared rooms and the best: it has a terrace overlooking the Pipila. For more information and to reserve click here.

Ikali in Monterey

Ratings above 9 make this hostel worthy of appearing on the list, in addition to a very good location (right in the Old Town a few steps from the Macroplaza) and cleanliness. However, in my experience it has a big point to improve and that is the training of the staff and the limited hours of the reception (don’t even think about arriving before 10 am). But why am I adding it to the list if my experience wasn’t the best? Because apart from those details, the hostel is good and above all it is one of the few alternatives that we can find in the city of Monterrey, so if your budget is economical, consider it. More information here.

Extra option. Nomads Hostel

Are you traveling to Merida? You are lucky because you will find a good alternative. This is the Nómadas Hostel, located just 5 blocks from the main square of the city. It has undoubtedly become one of the highlights for having one of the best pools when we talk about hostels, so if this is a priority for you, this is your hostel. However, the rest of its services are quite memorable, from the shared rooms that have a fairly old real estate, to the breakfast that is far from being one of the best.

Even so, travelers prefer it for its good atmosphere and its many free activities, such as yoga or cooking classes. More information and reservation here.

Experience: I would look for other options.

How do I select hostels?

In addition to choosing hostels based on my experience, at we manually review the most recommended and best rated hostels on major websites such as Booking, HostelBookers and also Facebook. This way, you don’t waste time comparing, we tell you which ones are best located, with better cleanliness and safety rates. No hostel has paid to be on the list nor have they given me discounts or free nights for including it. This is how I ensure experiences are real.

Why aren’t they the cheapest in each city?

I seek to offer the best quality-price ratio, and in many cases the cheapest is not. There are hostels that at first glance may seem more expensive, but in reality you will end up paying less because they come with more services included, such as: towels, lock, luggage storage, breakfast, bottle of water…

You also have to consider that we take the location of the accommodation into account, since this will allow you to save a lot of money on transportation (if you stay near the train station or the main attractions of the city you can often walk) and you will optimize your time.
