The before and after of this man whose love motivated him to fight cancer

It started as love at first sight. After very hard challenges, today Rob and Amanda are proof that love is a tool to overcome great obstacles, including cancer.

His story

Rob Mooberry and his future wife, Amanda, met while working at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, USA.

Amanda was a waitress and Rob was a bartender. When they started dating, they immediately knew it was love.

However, Rob did not act normal and began to lose weight rapidly. He complained of stomach pain and in one year he lost 27 kilograms.

The couple went to different doctors, but none could find the reason for their discomfort.

Finally, a surgeon decided to do exploratory surgery, because “no healthy man loses 60 pounds in a year.”

Bad news

After the surgery, they received devastating news: Rob had stage 4 colon cancer.

During exploratory surgery, doctors removed a fist-sized tumor. The news only got worse. The cancer had already spread to her aorta, her lymph nodes, and his bladder.

The life expectancy they read was only a few weeks. Processing the news that night, Rob realized he had no time to lose.

So while his girlfriend was lying in the hospital, Rob turned around and whispered, “I want us to get married.”

Amandale replied that she wanted the same thing, so the two weeks before she started chemotherapy, the couple got married.

But despite the treatment, he showed no signs of improvement. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and his family said goodbye to him with a tender serenade.

Recovery

Rather than continue with radiation and chemotherapy, they decided to stop and start holistic treatment. Amanda recounted: “We both changed our diet, became vegan, experimented with herbal treatments and did coffee enemas.”

Their doctors told them they were crazy, but like a miracle, after 3 weeks, Rob’s cancer was 80% gone.

By December 2014, all signs of cancer had completely vanished.

Grateful for this recovery, the couple decided it was time to start a family together. Because of the radiation Rob underwent, it was difficult for them to get pregnant, so they opted for in vitro treatment.

After a miscarriage, they achieved a twin pregnancy. The new parents welcomed their babies in 2016.

Up love!
