The goal of many is always to have a larger bookcase, made of mahogany or cedar and not compressed clay like the one in the warehouses that put out millions of generic bookcases. But sometimes, having a nice, personalized space to store your books doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of money on an expensive wooden bookcase.
Here we will give you some ideas to build bookcases. Some are easier than others, in some you can put as many books as in a normal bookcase and there are others that are more decorative and even just for one book.
classic bookcase

hanging bookcase
If you are starting your book collection, you can put the few you have in belts that you no longer use and make them float. If you make several rows you will feel that you are in a Harry Potter library.
children’s bookcase
Another one from AnaWhite. This is simpler and you can paint it a special color to introduce children to the beautiful world of reading. Remember that illustrated books can be larger, so pay attention to the size of the shelves.
Ladder
Ingenuity has no limits, perhaps when you see it you think that it is not a great idea, but as soon as you fill the staircase with your favorite books you will have no doubt that it is quite simple and original.
Lonely
Perhaps more of a divider than a bookcase. A slim stand, freestanding, is the perfect place to put your book down when you’re done reading for the night and pick it up the next day. The further away it is from the rest of the decoration, the better it will look.
string bookcase
There are simpler ones, however this one looks much more elegant and you could cover an entire wall with it. Here you can see how to make one of these models, with which you can cover a large space. You might spend half the weekend doing it, but you’ll save a lot of money.
vintage bookcase
With a few old tables or wooden benches you can make a small mountain on which your books will rest in an original way. Maybe it shouldn’t be as colorful or full of other things as the ones in this image, but a little decoration could definitely use this bookcase.
There are other things you can do with ladders, boxes, and pretty much anything your books can fit on. Ingenuity is the key and after you start, your whole house will end up full of books.
