this huge cat dominated an area of 400 square meters within the Masai Mara nature reserve, together with his three brothers. Together they were called “The Four Musketeers” and had to face several opponents throughout their reign. However, they always won.
Now, with the death of Scarface many things may change. That will be seen later.
Scarface’s story
his name, which in Spanish it can be translated as “Cut face”, is due to a scar that crossed his right eye. This, he acquired in one of her many disputes to keep the throne as leader of the Maasai Mara pack. But, despite his injury, the result did not remove him from the throne.
Though he was the alpha male of a group with around 900 lions, his three brothers always helped him with the control of the place. Together, the four musketeers faced many enemies, who sought to take away the leadership of the African nature reserve where they lived.
Nevertheless, Scarface lived the average time that any lion lives, 14 years. He did not die in a fight, but died naturally and in absolute calm. At the time of his death there were no tourist vehicles, no hyenas, no enemies, just a group from the Mara Predator Conservation Program (MPCP).
