Samsung Galaxy S9 (and its Aperture Camera)

We have reached a point with mobile telephony where, to be honest, I no longer know whether to treat it as a telephone or as a mini laptop capable of making calls. And, seeing the Samsung Galaxy S9, one of the mobile phones with the best cameras, I don’t know whether to talk about a camera with an Internet connection and the possibility of making calls, a mini computer with a super camera, or how to present it, but it’s clear that least, is making calls 😉 .

Technology advances at exorbitant steps and, with each new model of these phones that appears, the most futuristic dreams come true. But the ones who I think are especially in luck are the male and female photographers, because photographic enhancements of these super powerful mini computers do not stop advancing at exorbitant steps. Just like the applications for photography that you can download on your mobile.

The Samsung S9 hasn’t forgotten about us, on the contrary, you’ll see that it takes us very seriously 😉 With its 12MP rear camera (how outrageous) and with an f/1.5-f/2.4 diaphragm opening (yes, you have heard right, diaphragm opening! And what a luminosity!) and with its 8MP front camera, we are reaching levels of photographic quality that those who deny mobile photography due to its supposed lack of quality, will have it more and more hard ;-).

I once said that mobile telephony was here to stay, and here we have one more proof. Let’s see the main features of this Smartphone.

The best

I speak as a photographer, of course, surely fans of video games, or watch series on the phone, or fans of social networks, some other aspect of its characteristics will catch their attention.

But for me (and I assume that for you too), what has caught my attention the most is, without a doubt, the f/1.5-2.4 diaphragm aperture and the 12MP camera, which promises good results even in low light situations, just as if it were a bright SLR (or evil) camera lens.

It has also caught my attention virtual Assistant, called Bixby Vision, which has its own button, and which promises to instantly translate texts that it reads through the camera, it will tell us places of interest in a certain place, prices of what we are seeing, and even what is we are going to eat or how many calories it has. Amazing, right?

For those of you who enjoy social networks and/or are hooked on WhatsApp or similar, it will also allow you to create your own emoji to image and likeness, with a lot of actions and customization possibilities.

And I can’t forget to mention the possibility of recording videos in super slow mode 960 frames per second, which is very, very slow, amazing 🙂 .

Oh, and if you’re a security fanatic, which doesn’t hurt, it includes facial recognition, iris scanner, or fingerprint, as well as a system called Intelligent Scan that combines facial recognition with iris scanning.

Worst

We could say that the worst is the price, right? That may justify every penny of the investment, but if you also like “classic” SLR photography (or Evil) and you have to think about also spending for the camera body, lenses, etc… this type of phone may are somewhat out of budget. Although if the price is not a problem, I don’t think anyone will regret this Smartphone virguería ;-).

Samsung Galaxy S9 sample photos

If you are reading this article, it is clear that what you are most interested in knowing is what kind of photos it takes, so we bring you a sample of photos taken by Samsung with the Galaxy S9. As you can see, it responds quite well both in situations of homogeneous light and in moments of low light or with high contrasts.

Video

I leave you with the official video of the brand to present the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+:

Conclusions

The Samsung S9 is a very powerful intelligent phone, which pays special attention to design, its infinite screen without borders and, above all, which is strongly committed to mobile Photography, giving us a main camera (2 in the S9+) with a very bright diaphragm opening to work with excellent results in low light situations. Not to mention its 12 MP and its optical stabilizer. It seems that we are almost talking about an SLR ;-).
