Although yesterday we already saw how the Works on Roman Civilization could be for 1st ESO, now we go a little further within this same topic since in schools special mention is usually made of what was known as Roman Spain or Hispania. From it we have received, for example, the Roman numerals, but not only that. Let’s see how we can do a possible work on Roman Spain.
Points to touch on in our work on Roman Spain:
- What did Roman Spain consist of?
- Work on Roman Spain for 1st ESO
- Other ideas for the work of Roman Spain
- Roman Spain PDF
- Video of Roman Spain
What did Roman Spain consist of?
- To begin your work on Roman Spain, we will first have to do an extensive summary of what the arrival of the Roman Empire meant in Spain and what is known as the romanization of Spain, which consisted of a process in which Roman culture was implanted in the Iberian Peninsula during the period of Roman rule over it, known at that time as Hispania.
- Apart from talking about Roman culture and how it was introduced with great incidence in Spain, our summary should also include a broad outline of what the Roman system of government was like and how this was implanted in the peninsula.
Work on Roman Spain for 1st ESO:
- From the summary that I have mentioned, you will have to make a schematic map in which to talk about all the Roman influence on the territory of Spain.
- To be able to make your scheme you can divide between:
- infrastructures ; that were created in the territories that were under Roman rule, which improved both communications and the ability to absorb population from these areas.
- Urbanization: That it came thanks or in part to the creation of the aforementioned infrastructures, and that was also driven by utility and leisure public services, and that were not known until then in Spain and such as aqueducts, sewers, baths, theaters, amphitheaters , circuses, etc…
- Colonies: In your scheme you will also have to talk about how a series of repopulation colonies were created and the creation of extensive agricultural production estates, which mostly belonged to wealthy families who either came from Rome and its surroundings, or were indigenous families who quickly adopted Roman customs.
Other ideas for the work of Roman Spain:
- Apart from the schemes mentioned, your work on Roman Spain can include all kinds of photographs in which to show everything that was Roman art in Spain and of course, talk about some of the constructions made by the Romans in the peninsula and that are still preserved, such as the Roman theater of Mérida or the Aqueduct of Segovia.
- Another idea that I give you is to make a Maplike the one you see on the cover of this post, in which the peninsula is divided into the different towns in which the Spanish Romanization took place.
