One of his little ones gave him a great idea to help those most affected.
The Puerto Rican singer is the father of twin boys: Valentino and Mateo, and he confessed that it was one of them who gave him the greatest inspiration to throw himself fully into solidarity aid for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
As he declared: “I got depressed when I saw my little island so fragile,” said the singer. “I got into the shower to cry, it was a heartbreaking cry. And from the shower I could have gone to bed, and I could have stayed in bed for three days. But I dried myself up and went to my north, I went to my children.”
When explaining to them what had happened and asking them what they wanted to do, one of them did not hesitate: “Daddy, well, I want to open my piggy bank. I want to give it all away.”
That inspiring offer from one of his little ones made him feel that he had in his hands the power to help those who really needed it. “Superman is a fool next to me, because my kids gave me that perspective,” he said. “They don’t know what they did for me. Maybe they’ll find out now, and they’ll read it when they’re older, and they’ll understand what they did for me. Because if they gave their piggy bank, I have to give mine.”
Humanitarian work
