For some time now I have been reviewing websites of photographers who read/follow BdF, and who have decided to create their website following the tutorial I published here a few months ago.
The lucky photographer (if we consider “lucky” to submit to my unrelenting and harsh criticism) receives a video recorded by me showing my computer screen. In the video I go through the photographer’s website and leave comments, both on the visual part and on the content.
This is an attempt on my part to help everyone who wants to create their own web page as a photographer (following the tutorial I mentioned), sharing my humble experience of more than 10 years in the field of web page creation, design and online marketing related to photography.
Although these are “personalized” reviews, it occurred to me that I could generalize the usefulness of these reviews by sharing them publicly. So more people can benefit from the comments and advice that I include in them. Obviously, I ask the permission of the reader in question and publish the review ONLY when he or she feels good about it.
If you are also thinking of creating your own photographer website, and you want to commit the foolishness of submitting your creation to my ruthless and unforgiving criticism 😈, here are the steps you must follow:
- Follow the video tutorial that I have published here, where I teach you how to create your own photography portfolio.
- When you have your page created and activated with Bluekea (I’ll explain how in the tutorial), send me a notice from the following form indicating the domain name you have activated with Bluekea.
- As soon as your message arrives, I have configured a rule in the mail that will automatically put your message in a folder that I have dedicated to this matter.
- From the messages that I receive, I will regularly select readers who will receive the personalized review.
- If the reader wishes, I’ll post the review here on the blog, generalizing the benefit and also giving the lucky reader’s page a bit of notoriety.
To inaugurate this dynamic, today I bring you the review of Ángel’s page of «Acariciando la Luz». In private, Ángel has thanked me for the review and has promised me that he will soon get down to work with the changes and suggestions that I make in the review. Obviously, it is up to the reader to choose and apply the suggestions that seem most pertinent to him.
I leave you the review hoping that it will be useful to you and I encourage you to take the step if you have ever considered sharing your photographic work with the world. A website of your own can be a great step in your photographic journey.
