The Rank of a matrix \(\text{rank}(A)\) is the maximum number of linearly independent row vectors \(A=\begin{pmatrix}a_1 \\ a_2 \\ \vdots \\ a_n\end{pmatrix}\) or column vectors \(A=\begin{pmatrix}a_1 & a_2 & … & a_n\end{pmatrix}\) of a matrix \(A\).
