Today I bring you a special literary recommendation. From the last thing I’ve read about photography, it’s what I’ve enjoyed and learned the most, in many ways: Imagining Strong Uge Worlds. And if what you want is to delve into the blog in the nature photography, this is our most complete guide, with tips, tricks and lots of inspiration.
I was looking forward to sharing it with you.
There is no formula to teach how to see, you just have to have the eyes of a mosquito and the gaze of a child.
Uge Strong
Ideal for you…
If you like nature photography, if you are looking for inspiration, if you want to delve into photography in general and creativity in particular. It is a book to open the senses, to enjoy each image and each reflection.
I don’t recommend it if…
…you are looking for recipes on how to take a certain photograph, you expect rules or very technical advice. This is not a book to learn how to photograph manually or how to control light. It is more a book to learn about yourself and how to put previously acquired knowledge into practice.
A book to find the way to dream worlds through our photographs.
Imagining Strong Uge Worlds
Imagining Worlds is a special publication because it is a very personal vision of the author. The care and effort that he has put into making it see the light is palpable. He feels the passion he puts into photography and the generosity with which he shares his knowledge and his most personal reflections.
It seems to me an inspirational gem that you cannot miss. In it you will find images full of beauty, reflections, advice, experiences and poetry.
Let’s see the chapters of which it is composed:
1. Ways of working
In this first chapter, the author introduces us to the different ways of working when taking photos, of places, of what we want or don’t want, of the importance of creating lists of ideas to turn them into the photos we want or imagine, or what it means to undertake a project, with its drawbacks and advantages, how much it can bring us or how we can undertake it.
2. Composition
Do not expect to find in this chapter the basic rules of composition or typical mistakes to avoid. This chapter goes much further, delves into the levels of expression and the narrative resources of a photograph. How to communicate visually through, for example, metaphor or paradox. All with very illustrative examples. A very interesting chapter.
All photography captures, in 50%, the outside world and, in another 50%, the inner world of the photographer.

3. Limits
I think this is one of the chapters that I liked the most (and touched). A challenge to the limits, physical, spatial and emotional or cognitive.
4. Creativity
A chapter to reconcile with your creative part, to discover how to awaken it. An allegation to the innocent look of childhood, the one that allows us to see without the imposed or self-imposed limits.
5. Emotion
Getting excited about photographing and getting excited about your photography is what this chapter is about. It includes a section on emotion through color, with the different colors and what you can convey with them.
6. Doubt
Unlearn, doubt what is established, make mistakes and forget rules. It’s all part of the way.
In this chapter he also suggests some ideas to go beyond what is known, to try different things, etc. Suggestions to find the way to our dreams and capture them in our photographs.
7. Own photographic style
Who has not worried at some point to find their own photographic style? In chapter 7, Uge reflects on this essential topic.
8. Photographic techniques
It is the most technical chapter of the entire text, but at the same time really creative. Do not expect to find the basic photographic techniques, but those that will lead you to achieve different and surprising images. It ends with some really useful tips for multiple exposure photography.
9. Photography and art
A walk through the history of painting illustrated by photographs inspired by the different movements. Ideas to achieve photographs with pictorial effects. To finish, he proposes an exercise where we combine self-knowledge, emotion, creativity and photography.

Best of Imagining Strong Uge Worlds
All. The images, the poetry, Uge’s unique vision, the way he takes you by the hand to help you find your own path. The delicacy with which he deals with photography, nature or any subject he talks about.
The author is pure sensitivity and it shows in his words and in his work.
The book is full of photographs that will make you sigh. Whether you like nature photography more or less, it’s a shot of inspiration. It goes straight to the depths of your photographic passion.
Worst
I would only say one thing (and to put some downside because I really liked everything). As a suggestion for future editions of this or other books, I would recommend to the author the possibility of using a more linear typeface (Helvetica type), I think it would be more in harmony with the edition of the book, as well as a color less black. The size is perfect, very nice to read without straining your eyes. Just an opinion 😉 .
Conclusions
This publication is a journey through emotions and along the path that must be traveled until we are able to capture the world we dream and imagine in images.
It combines composition, technique, creativity, poetry, sensitivity, images to sigh and much more.
It is a book to give, learn, enjoy and grow as photographers.
In the following video you have a preview of the wonders that you can find within Imagining Worlds. To dream, right?
If you found this review useful, don’t forget to share it. Surely someone will thank you for discovering this gem.
