Keys to read the coffee grounds

Coffee is not only a stimulating drink that many people are used to drinking in the morning, but it can also be a starting point to learn more about ourselves.

Cafeomancy, or reading the coffee grounds, is a traditional divinatory art from the Middle East that is based on the interpretation of the images that are formed with the coffee grounds to provide keys to understand the future, the present and the past.

Those who develop this discipline maintain that this information is within each one, forming part of an inner wisdom that erases it and reveals it. That is why the interpretation must be considered as information that can be useful to guide oneself, reflect or make decisions.

In this note you will learn how to correctly prepare a coffee in which a specialist could then read the grounds, or you could also read it yourself, if you wanted to learn. If that is the case, you can start learning in this note some more common figures and their interpretation, and then begin to internalize yourself in this art.

How to prepare coffee the right way?

Not just any type of coffee is used for reading the grounds. It must be ground and impalpable; Turkish coffee is used in many places. The preparation of the drink is a very particular ritual that, according to the book “Learn to read the coffee grounds”, by Nacira Z. Yasid, consists of the following steps:

1. Heat the water over low heat and, when it comes to a boil, place a teaspoon of sugar and another of coffee per cup of water.

2. Let boil for a few seconds, stirring counterclockwise.

3. Let cool.

4. Bring to a boil again and let stand over low heat. Then pour the coffee into a cup.

5. Let it rest and drink slowly, trying to leave a minimum amount of liquid.

6. Flip the cup over onto a small plate and rotate it seven times counterclockwise. Then, place the cup in the normal position. At the bottom of the well, the lint will adhere to different parts of it, creating different shapes and figures that will be the basis of the interpretation.

Some keys to interpret what the coffee grounds say about you

– Location: the symbols on the left refer to past events. The figures on the right, on the other hand, refer to the future; while the present is referenced by the figures found on the edge.

On the other hand, the symbols that are drawn on the handle or in its outline refer to the home; and, those that are in the center refer to a distant future, to events that may or may not come to fruition.

– Size: if the figures or symbols are large, the corresponding positive, negative or neutral assessment will be amplified. On the contrary, if it is small, it decreases it.

– Definition: it is preferable not to interpret confusing or undefined symbols, but to focus on the most visible ones.

– Most common shapes and figures:

Crown: represents success and power, also strength and courage.

Sword: it is a sign of vitality, vigor, courage.

Hat: will, tenacity. You will have the firmness to achieve what you set out to do.

Horseshoe: omen of happiness, luck in games of chance.

Hand: represents giving or receiving help, empathy with others, solidarity.

Woman: represents friendship or sexual relations.

Man: refers to fear, fear, strength, confrontations.

Butterfly: friendship, sudden luck, unexpected money.

Star: pride, success, social and family recognition. It can also mean travel.

As the reading of the coffee grounds seeks to make visible information that is actually inside you, you can also interpret the symbols by associating them with a meaning that they have for you.
