iPhone X, the Smartphone That Will Conquer You

Mobile technology never ceases to amaze us and show us that photography can be done with a Smartphone. One of the last to do so has been Apple with its iPhone X, which breaks with the design we were used to on their earlier models.

With differences such as expanding the screen (which goes from LCD to OLED) to the edges (chrome), an ultra-resistant glass back or the elimination of the button (and therefore the Touch ID fingerprint reading system). And the aspect that most interests us as photographers, the two rear cameras with different diaphragm openings and its resistance to water and dust. Just to name a few aspects to whet your appetite 😉 .

Of course, loyal Apple users and lovers of photography and design are in luck. Conquest input. Well, leaving the price aside for now ;). Let’s see it in depth.

The best of the iPhone X

No doubt the design is the most beautiful with its glass back, rounded chrome edges and the 5.8” screen that stretches to the edges of the phone without visual interference (the home button has been removed). The size of the terminal, to give you an idea, would be between an Iphone 7 and an Iphone 8 Plus; larger than the first and smaller than the second.

But not only that, the glass back finally allows the wireless charging. It was one of the few brands that did not offer it, until now. and the terminal is water and dust resistant.

The glass is of the highest quality and boasts of being the most resistant placed so far in a Smartphone.

The front camera: With 7MP with an aperture f / 2.2 that allows you to take self-portraits with the blur background and play with several illuminations in your portraits, control the exposure, facial detection system (with which you can even pay with the ApplePay application), etc. In general, the front camera responds quite well.

The rear cameras: Count with one wide angle six elements with f/1.8 aperture, dual optical image stabilization and a 12-megapixel sensor. The other camera is a telephoto ƒ/2.4 aperture with a second optical image stabilization system. Together, these two cameras give you up to 10x optical and digital zoom.

The screen OLED HDR with a contrast of 1,000,000:1 high resolution (2,436 × 1,125) and 458 pixels per inch with a advanced color management system which claims to be the best in the entire smartphone industry.

Also add a very good battery life up to the rest of the features and its powerful processor (A11 Bionic) and 4K video recording with stabilization.

Worst

The battery takes almost three hours to fully charge.

Fingerprint recognition disappears and is replaced by the facial recognition (face ID system). This can cause certain problems when, for example, there is a situation of extreme brightness, or the head is lying down (sofa or bed). Then the face detector may be lost.

It doesn’t have a headphone port (nor does the 7 or 8).

On the other hand, to manage RAW files you have to resort to other apps

Conclusions

It seems that we are not only facing one of the phones with the best cameras, but that it is going to become an icon. Its design is difficult to beat and, although more and more Apple has more competitors that have proven to be up to the demands, or even above, the truth is that the faithful followers of this brand, its design and features you will see few buts to put on this mobile phone.
