Options for uploading a panorama to Instagram

There are several ways to upload a panorama to Instagram without the social network cropping it where it most interests you.

Panoramic on Instagram with frame

The quick and easy option is to use an application that allows you to frame your image, whatever format it may have, in a square so that it looks complete at first glance. It will be seen with a frame, as I put below.

Here is how the full gallery looks with the framed panorama.

Panoramic view in the Instagram feed

In this case I have used the application Whitagram for iOS, although you have a lot of mobile photography applications (you can see them in the link), surely you already have one downloaded that allows it, if not, try several until you find your favorite.

The advantage In this way, the panoramic view is complete at first glance.

The drawback it looks very small.

With these applications it is very easy. This is the step by step in Whitagram:

  1. You open the application and choose if you want to do it at the moment from the camera (Camera) or choose it from the gallery (Library). Let’s use as an example from the photo gallery.
Step 1
  1. Choose the photo you want to share.
Step 2
  1. Edit with the options at the bottom if you want to make any changes to the panorama or the background, you can choose, for example, the color of the background (white or black are the most recommended, but colors are to your liking 😉 ). You can also add text if you wish. When you have it to your liking, click on “Save” to save.
Step 3
  1. Choose the resolution you want to save or post your panorama in (S, M, L) and select whether you want to save it to your camera roll (cameraroll) or share it directly on Instagram (Compartir either Other apps). When you click on “Other app” the applications where you can share it appear, including Instagram (if you have it downloaded, of course ;))
Step 4
  1. Write the comment you want for the bottom of your panorama, add the information you want, press «Share» and voila!
step 5

Panorama on Instagram with carousel

PanoPano app

Another way is to upload the panorama in parts within a carousel.

That is, in the same publication you slide to see the different parts of the photo. In this case it is not complete, but you can see the details.

There are several applications that allow it, as an example I have used PanoPano for iOS. The same application splits the photo into several and uploads them as a carousel or group of images.

To do this, with the panorama in the gallery, open the application and follow the steps that it indicates.

Steps to upload Panoramic on Instagram in parts

I will detail the different steps and below I will put screenshots of each of them:

  1. Select the panorama you want to share on the Internet.
Step 1
  1. Remove the logo (optional). You can do it with a previous payment so that it is permanent in all the panoramas that you upload or for that only panorama by accepting to watch an advertising video.
Step 2
  1. Share on Instagram. Press the bottom button where it says “Share on Instagram”.
Step 3
  1. See steps. A screen appears indicating the steps to follow. Then click on “Got it”.
Step 4
  1. Choose History either News. Depending on whether you want to upload a post to make it permanent in your gallery (News) or a Story that will be visible for the next 24 hours. In my case I choose “News”.
step 5
  1. Select Multi Photo. Below the image you have the Multi photo icon (I mark it in the capture of Step 6), press there to be able to select the rest of the parts of the panorama.
Step 6
  1. Select the photos in order, from left to right. In my case there are 5 images. Now press “Next”.
step 7
  1. Filters. If you want to apply a filter because you had not previously edited the image, this is the moment. Otherwise, you can skip this step and click “Next” again.
step 8
  1. Write the text or comment you want and click “OK”.
step 9
  1. Add the rest of the information (optional), such as the location or if you want to share on another social network and click on “Share”. Clever!
step 10

See how easy?

Panning across multiple posts

Panning across multiple posts

Have you seen those photographs that are displayed in a gallery as if they were part of a puzzle?

That is, several publications that form a single image.

An application is also used for this, for example coolgram (iOS / android).

It works both for panoramas and for other formats, but now what interests us is the panorama and it is the example that we are going to use.

Here are the steps to upload panorama to Instagram with coolgram, below you will see the screenshots of each of them:

  1. You choose what you want to do, whether to upload a panorama or the other options it offers you.
  2. You select in how many cuts you want the panorama to be divided, you can see in the following gallery an example with 3 and another with 5 cuts.
  3. Save the sequence by pressing “Save” at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Open Instagram by clicking on “Open Instagram” at the bottom. Upload the photos one by one in order, starting with the image on the right and ending with the one on the left. In this step, you can apply a filter if you want (I have applied the Gingham filter) and, of course, add the comments you want, location, etc.

Which mode is better?

Choosing one mode or another will depend on the effect you want to print in your gallery or how you want others to see it. Anyway, some of these forms are combinable.

For example, you can put the entire panorama in the first image and the rest of the carousel with the parts so that the details of it are well appreciated.

Or vice versa, start with parts and end with a general view of your panorama.

There is no correct way, there are different options and you choose the one that you like the most or that suits you at the moment.

Applications to upload panoramas to Instagram

These applications that I have used are an example of those that you can use but there are more. I leave you with these other two also free:

  • Panorama Split (iOS / Android). The truth is that it is highly valued by users and allows you to upload your panorama between 2 and 9 parts.
  • Panorama Crop for Instagram (iOS / android). In addition to having extra options that other applications do not offer, the loss of resolution is much lower.

Do you know any other way? Have you tried it before? What app do you use?
