If you want to renovate your house by giving your decoration a new style, you do not need to spend a lot of money. A colorful piece of furniture can completely change the style of an entire environment, without overloading it with objects. But you don’t need to buy a new one, recycling is the best option!
Just as you can make your own furniture with pallets, you can also transform one into another. Have you ever thought that a bed that no longer serves you can be an armchair? Learn here how to do it, save money, and add style to your home responsibly.
Materials
- A bed that you no longer use (you will only need the frame)
- wood saw
- Wooden boards
- Paint (optional)
- nails and hammer
Process
1. First of all, you will need a bed frame. If you have one with mattress support slats, remove them until only the full perimeter is left.
2. Using a hacksaw, cut out the head of the bed and the front. Then, remove the top wooden plate from the front, leaving only the side rails and the batten that joins them underneath.
3. Cut the side boards of the bed leaving them the width you want your chair to have. Now use them to join the back with the front part that you have left. You can use wood nails to join them, or take advantage of the cracks that some beds have.
4. With leftover wood, create a support that will serve as a seat, joining all the sides in the shape of a rectangle and then placing wooden slats on top for support, as you can see here. You can use the slats that held the mattress.
5. Lastly, paint your armchair in the color that you like the most and decorate it however you want.
