We are on the ideal dates to review everything we have done throughout this year, our achievements and successes, but also to see all those things that have fallen by the wayside and the lessons that we have been able to acquire before the potholes and mishaps. It is a moment to stop, reflect and raise the new year 2018 with new objectives, purposes, desires and professional projects. And precisely thinking about it, we are going to give you some good advice for this moment of reflection and give away a really practical template to organize all your 2018 projects. Ready? Well let’s get to it!
2017 review
Learning from the past to shape a better future It is a good practice that we can reinforce thanks to reflection. To make your 2018 projects even better than this year’s, it is important to stop and think about what we have done, what we have stopped doing, what we have achieved, what we would have liked to achieve… The most important thing is that this conversation with ourselves is totally transparent, without lies. Be honest with yourself!
The ideal for this is to have a business coach because they will know how to see your reality from an external point of view and give you some wise advice to face the new year. But in the absence of one, we ask you here a series of questions that it is important that you answer for this review of what happened in 2017:
- Among the jobs you’ve done this year, which would you say you’re most proud of and why?
- Among the jobs you’ve done this year, which one would you say you’re least proud of and why?
- What could you have done better?
- What could you have done worse?
- What goals did you meet? How do you feel about having achieved it?
- What goals did you not meet? because?
- Have you invested in yourself and your personal brand?
- What do you think you have done well and why?
- What do you think you have done wrong and why? what have you learned from it?
2018 resolutions
Once you are clear about how you have lived this last year, now is the time to think about the future, about your projects for 2018. To do this, we will reflect on what we want and we will establish our objectives, priorities, projects and actions. Follow these steps and everything will be much easier to organize:
- Think… how do you see yourself in 5 years both personally and professionally? What would your ideal day-to-day be like?
- What dream would you like to fulfill in 2018?
- Make a list of 10 wishes for 2018 in order of importance.
- Indicate your main and secondary objectives for 2018.
- Make a list of resolutions for 2018 that will help you achieve your goals.
Then do a annual calendar with projects, objectives and actions, to gradually achieve your goals.
It is also important that every beginning of the month put on a sheet:
- Your monthly goals
- your task list
- The things you can improve
And weekly set specific goals and every day complete tasks to develop.

To make this task easier for you, we’ve created a spreadsheet template where you can organize your 2018 projects and share them with your team. Write the corresponding actions and tasks, indicating the person responsible and marking on a Gantt chart the important dates and duration of each action. You can also use the color code to mark the tasks carried out, those that are still pending and those in which there has been an incident. The “notes” or “comments” functionalities will also be very useful for adding information. We hope it will be of great help to you!
I recommend using a document for your personal project and another document to add the projects of your company and incorporate your team so that it also serves as a guide for them.
Finally, remember that we are also on ideal dates to redefine your business model and make your company dossier for the new year. In the previous links you will see two posts where we give you ideas to raise both issues.
