The decoration and lighting of the environments in which we spend a lot of time are very important, since our state of mind and our attitude are influenced by the spaces in which we carry out our activities.
That is why it is always good to redecorate and look for new objects that change energies. But it is also necessary to think about the environment when we do it.
To decorate the home with a new object, it is not necessary to make large expenses, since you can opt for recycling, with which you will also be taking care of the environment.
All the objects that you discard in your house can be used to make an ornament or, as in this case, some original recycled lamps. In this note you will learn how to make them almost free of cost, recycling a material as simple to find as the cardboard tubes of toilet or kitchen paper.
Materials
– 20 empty rolls of toilet paper
– A bowl in the shape you want to give the lamp
– Pencil or pen
– Scissors
– Glue or hot glue gun
– Black acrylic paint (or the color you prefer)
– Brush
– Ruler
– Clothespins
– A lamp holder with a low consumption light bulb
Process
1. To begin, you must take the cardboard tubes, flatten them and mark lines every two centimeters, with the help of the ruler so that all the pieces have the same width.
2. Once you have marked the tubes, cut them into strips.
The result will be about a hundred pieces of cardboard in the shape of a petal.
3. Once you have the pieces ready, you must join them together with glue, adhering them to the flat surface. You must form a pattern, for example flowers, and follow the shape you want your lamp to have. For this, you must use a container as a mold, for example a salad pot. On the top of the lamp, place a circle that will be the center of the central flower and will also serve to pass the lamp holder inside.
You can help yourself with clips to hold the cardboard in place until the glue dries.
4. Continue across the entire surface of the mold. It is convenient to wait for a group of pieces to dry before continuing, this way it will be easier for you.
5. Once you have covered the surface and the glue has dried, paint your recycled lamp black or a color of your choice.
When your lamp is dry, you can put a socket with a bulb inside, and then hang it on the wall.
This is just an idea, but you can also build this lamp out of jars, this lamp out of caps, make lamps out of reused bottles, or even lampshades out of cardboard egg cartons. Be creative and share your idea!
