If you want to decorate your garden with paths in a colorful and original way, mosaicism is an ideal option that will allow you to display all your creativity and, at the same time, reuse small pieces of ceramic that have been damaged.
In this way you can create a piece with your own design and, in addition, do it in a very practical, economical way and without requiring any type of particular knowledge.
In this note you will learn how to make garden tiles using a silicone cake pan.
Dare to do it and decorate your outdoor space with the color and design that you like the most!
Materials
– Silicone cake mold
– Adhesive plastic fiber (contact or contact paper)
– Ceramics or colored pieces
– Cement and sand
– Varnish
– Gripper
– Wire mesh or wire mesh
– Gloves
– Mixing paddle and shovel
– Water
– Pencil
– Sandpaper
Process
1. Get the ceramic pieces you will need for your tiles. You can use different sizes and colors, and even, if you need to, cut them very carefully with the help of tweezers or a hammer. The greater variety, the more original your piece will be!
2. Place the cake pan on the contact paper and mark its outline with a pencil.
3. Cut the circle that has been outlined. Remove the cover and place it inside the mold, taking care that the sticky part is facing up.
4. Lay out the mosaic pieces on the contact paper. When doing this, keep in mind that the design will be on the wrong side (since you will be flipping the piece later). Unfold all your creativity in the design! As you lay out the pieces, press them down so they stick to the paper. If you want to see how your design turned out, carefully lift up the contact paper. If you don’t like it, change it before adding the cement mix.
Note: try to leave enough space between the pieces so that the cement can cover the spaces in the middle.
5. Mix the cement with one measure of it, two of sand and water until the consistency of a paste is achieved.
6. Cut a square piece of the metal mesh with pliers, then place it inside the tile to provide support. Add Vaseline to the edges of the mold to make it easier to remove the piece later.
7. Put on your gloves and spread a little of the mixture into the mold with a spoon. Spread it out evenly, covering your entire design, but not filling it completely.
8. Place the piece of chicken wire on top of the wet cement. Add another layer over the wire.
9. Let stand for two days. Then flip it over. It should be able to be easily removed. Carefully remove the contact paper. You can use sandpaper to smooth the cement grooves and after cleaning well, varnish.
Create your path as you like and give color, life and creativity to your garden!
