Churros are a very popular preparation eaten in places like Mexico, Spain or Argentina. They are made with flour, water and salt, and can be accompanied with sauces or fillings.
Although the most traditional way to make them is to fry them in oil, here you will learn how to make homemade churros in a simple, but healthier way, since you will cook them in the oven.
To serve them, you can accompany them with a delicious chocolate sauce. An irresistible temptation for the afternoon or any time of the day!
Ingredients
- 250 gr of flour (you can use some gluten-free if you are celiac)
- 3 glasses of water
- a pinch of salt
- Icing sugar to sprinkle at the end (optional)
- 1 egg yolk (to paint the churros)
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder (and an extra 1 teaspoon to sprinkle on the churros at the end)
- Butter paper
- pastry bag
Chocolate sauce (optional to accompany)
- ⅓ cup semisweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
- ½ cup of liquid cream
Preparation
1. Mix the flour in a bowl with a pinch of salt and cinnamon. Add, little by little, the three glasses of boiling water while beating well. You should have a dough.
2. Let the dough rest until it cools down.
3. Pour the dough into a pastry bag and, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, make the churros you want. Don’t worry about the length, since once they are ready you can cut them with a knife.
4. Beat the egg yolk and paint the churros on top; and cook until golden (about 10 minutes)
5. Finish by sprinkling on top, if you want, with cinnamon and powdered sugar.
You can accompany these delicious churros with a chocolate sauce, following the steps below:
1. Boil the cream in a small pot. Add the chocolate to it and let it rest for two minutes without mixing.
2. Next, mix well with a spoon or whisk until the chocolate is completely melted.
And ready!
Enjoy them!
