How to make granola at home

The most basic granola consists of a mixture of walnuts, almonds, or other dried fruits with oats and honey that is cooked until crisp. It stands out for being a food that provides a lot of energy, which is why athletes usually consume it. This quality also makes it excellent to eat for breakfast, or as a snack.

These ideas will allow you to prepare your own granola at home. In addition to being much richer and cheaper than the commercial one, you can use the ingredients that you like the most to adapt it to your preferences. You don’t need a recipe, although there are some recommendations to make it better. Grains – 3 cups

Oil – ¼ to ½ cup

This one of the most important ingredients, as it makes the granola crunchy, but not sticky. In addition, it enhances its flavor. Neutral oils, like grapeseed oil, always work well. If you’re up for it, you can use a good extra virgin olive oil or melted coconut oil for a more interesting flavor.

Salt – 1 teaspoon kosher salt or ¾ teaspoon regular table salt

Salt is another important ingredient, as it will make the rest of the flavors pop. That is why it is used a little more than in most pastry recipes.

Seeds – 1 to 2 cups

Egg white – 1 egg white

Beat one egg white until foamy and incorporate it along with the rest of the ingredients, replacing part of the oil (2 to 4 tablespoons). Doing this will help bind the different ingredients together and make the granola crunchier.

Preparation

1. Measure grains, nuts, seeds, salt, and spices. Place all these ingredients in a large container.

2. Add the sweetener, oil and egg white.

3. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.

4. Spread the preparation on a large oven tray. You can cover this with some parchment paper to prevent the granola from sticking.
