How to make a garden beverage storage table

If you like carpentry, and you have space in your garden for a practical and original piece of furniture, you can build this conservatory table for drinks. It is very decorative and it is also very useful to keep soft drinks cold during a lunch without having to depend on the refrigerator.

Also, when you are not using it as a conservator, you can replace the coolers with plants, since they are made with plastic pots!

Materials

Pieces of wood:

All will be of good quality, measuring 2 inches (5 cm) thick.

– 2 pieces of 1.90 m long x 9 cm wide (front)

– 4 pieces of 2.2 m long x 19.4 cm wide (cover)

– 4 pieces of 75 cm long x 9 cm wide (legs)

– 2 pieces of 79.5 cm long x 9 cm wide (heads)

– 3 pieces of 24 cm x 18 cm

– 3 pieces of 24 cm x 9 cm

– 2 pieces of 1.80 m long x 9 cm wide (eyebrows)

Tools:

– Drill bit for wood 3/16

– Drill tip No. 3 cross

– Sander

– 4 inch fine hair brush (wide flat brush)

Other materials:

– Steel wood screws (10 cm long and 3 mm thick)

– Sanding wood

– Exterior varnish

– Filler for pine wood

– 2 rectangular pots of 60 cm

General procedure

1. Base assembly:

Use the 30-inch boards to create the legs. Fix them with screws to the 1.90 meter boards. For this, make some holes in the plank from 1.90 to 10 centimeters from the beginning. Mark 2 dots, each 2 centimeters from one of the edges. Drill with the drill and 3/16 bit for wood.

2. Once all the holes have been made, screw on the legs, leaving a space the thickness of the headboard in between. Take care that the screws are well aligned before screwing them.

3. Continue with the 79.5-centimeter heads. Mark them 2 centimeters from the beginning and from the edges. Drill at the marks and attach the headers to the table legs with the screws. This way you will have the basic structure ready.

4. Stand the structure upright, as if the table were already built.

5. Now that you have the base, you can start on the deck. Use the four 2.2 meter long planks. You must leave a margin of 6 centimeters outside the table frame. The space in the middle of both pairs of planks should be the size of the planters.

Variant: you can cut this board into several parts, and make the pieces that separate the pots wider, as seen in some of the photographs. You can also use thinner planks for the inside. Try different designs!

6. Flip the cover over to place the tabs that will hold the planters. Take the 1.80 meter long planks; these will be the eyebrows. You must place them under the deck, screwed in 4 points on the deck boards but leaving a three centimeter flange towards the interior of the hole on which the planters will be, since this flange will support them. It is important to screw in four points since they must support the weight of the coolers.

Variant: you can also place the pot directly on the table, without making tabs.

7. When you finish the cover, screw it onto the base.

8. Your table will be almost finished. In the center space, above the eyebrows, place the 24 x 18 centimeter and 9 x 24 pieces of wood. You must leave enough space (approximately 58.5 centimeters) to place the planter-ice boxes. Make sure they fit well; do not screw the pieces until you have made sure that the measurement is exact for your planters.

9. Your table is ready! You just have to fill the imperfections with filler, sand it and varnish it.

10. Place the planters and fill them with ice and bottles.

There are many sophisticated and designer objects that you can make yourself and save a lot of money. If you were interested in this table, you could also see how to make a design table from pallets.

In the video, you can see the step by step more clearly, and you will also find an option to fill the pots with flowers. You can also cut two other pieces of wood the size of the flower pots, and use them to cover the gaps when you want your table to be completely covered.

Enjoy your garden!
