If you have a garden in your home, surely you have or would like to have flowers, an orchard or some small plants in it. But it is not always easy to organize the space to combine the lawn with the vegetation, and sometimes we fall into always doing the same thing, such as planting only in the margins of the garden.
In this note you will learn how to make a flowerbed-island, to organize the garden in a decorative, neat and original way.
- Fertile land
- 400 black bricks
- Corrugated cardboard or newsprint
- 8 meters of anti-frost fabric
Process
1. Draw on the grass, with chalk or brick dust, the outline of the flower bed you want to build.
2. Place cardboard or paper on the ground in the center of the flower bed. This will ensure that the grass does not interfere with the growth of your plants; but in 90 days the cardboard will disintegrate so it won’t harm the roots when they grow.
3. Cut a trench around the design.
4. Cover the cardboard with soil, which can be soil you remove from the trench mixed with rich soil from your compost or purchased from a quality nursery.
5. Place the anti-frost fabric (if you can’t find it, you can use a cotton stabilizer) around the entire flower bed, burying it a little in the ground. It will make the substrate not come out.
6. Stack the bricks in a row, forming the outline of the entire flower bed. Create the internal divisions you want. You can make sectors higher and lower.
7. Done! Sow what you want and enjoy watching it grow.
