The centerpiece of this project is a pallet. You won’t need much to turn this wood into a modern coffee table. You will need to:– Pallet- Saw or cerrucho- Hammer- Pry bar (or you can use the back of the hammer)- Drill- Set of four iron hairpin legs approximately 30 or 40 centimeters long.- Transparent varnish- Brush
Instructions:1. Start by modifying the pallet. Try to adapt it to the desired size with the help of a saw or cerrucho. Another option is to leave it as it is. It all depends on your preferences and what you specifically need.two. Remove and arrange the pieces of wood that make up the pallet as needed. Remove and rearrange the slats to ensure that between the woods there is not so much empty space. At the end of the day, what we need to achieve is that the table is suitable for supporting things without them falling through the cracks. For this, make sure to carefully remove the slats from only one side, bearing in mind that you will have to screw the legs later.Remember that all pallets are made in a different way, some have more wood than others. You can use pieces of wood from other pallets even. With the hammer and the lever bar, remove them, taking special care when removing each of the parts, being careful not to leave any remaining nails. In addition, if the wood is dry, you must handle it carefully so that it does not break. You may prefer to leave them separate, if so, you can skip this step.
3. Use a couple of extra battens (or cut a few pieces of wood if necessary) to reinforce the bottom of the pallet. Make sure you have at least 2 pieces to go on the bottom of the table, one at each end, so there is enough room to attach the hairpin legs.Four. Attach the legs by screwing them into each bottom corner of the pallet. You may want to drill the holes in the wood before you screw the legs into place.5. Lastly, paint with a coat or two of clear varnish. Apply it evenly and let it dry for a few hours before arranging it in your living room. Sanding rough edges before varnishing is optional.
