A beautiful lamp is always a great addition to home decoration. In addition, an entire environment can be transformed just by lighting it differently. But if any lamp is a nice touch, this one can really shake up a room with its stormy effect.
Cloud lamps can be bought ready-made, but as we will reveal here, making them is not as complicated as you might think. Dare to make them yourself!
The lamp uses a remote control led bulb, which can change color and remain fixed or flicker. As the lamp is made of pillow filling, which can be flammable, you have to be very careful when making it, and make sure that the foam is not in contact with the electric bulb or the lamp holder, as it could overheat.
Also, remember to use LED lamps, which heat less and consume less energy. Using this lamp with a non-LED bulb could be dangerous.
It is a very funny lamp, and the children will find it amazing. You can also make a moon lamp, and have the whole sky in the room!
Materials
- Hypoallergenic filling for pillows
- A remote controlled RGB led light bulb, with various colors and a flashing mode (or similar)
- A glass jar with a lid that fits the light bulb (you will need to pierce the lid)
- heat resistant glue
- Cable
- a lamp holder
- A rosette (piece used to hold a ceiling lamp)
- Duct tape
Process
1. On the one hand, you have to make the electrical connection of the lamp. You will need the lamp holder, the cable, the rosette and the perforated lid of the jar. First, pass the cord (it has to be as long as you want the lamp to be when it hangs) through the hole in the cover. Then, make the connection of the cable to the lamp holder (you will have to strip the cables, join them to those of the lamp holder, and secure them with electrical tape if necessary).
2. Check that if you put the bulb in the socket, you can fit the jar and the lid closes.
3. Remove the bottle from the socket. Now comes the creative part: with the pillow filling, and the help of a little glue, shape your cloud around the jar. The texture of the filling is perfect, you have to mold it a little with your hands so that the shape is as you wish.
4. Connect the bulb holder to the electrical outlet on the ceiling. To hold it, and so that the cable can support the weight of the bottle, you must pass it through the center of the hole in the rosette, and screw it to the ceiling.
5. Once you have the light bulb hanging from the ceiling, and you have checked that everything is working fine, carefully screw the jar, surrounded by the cloud, onto its lid.
6. Done! With the remote control you can control the colors of the cloud, play games, leave it on flashing mode and simulate a storm.
