How to get rid of bags under the eyes

Bags often form under the eyes as a product of age. This is because, as we age, the tissues and muscles in that area weaken. However, there are other reasons that can cause its appearance. Among them are fluid retention, poor circulation, lack of sleep and allergies. Follow these tips to get rid of them naturally.

cold tea bags

Making compresses with cold green, black or chamomile tea bags will relax your eyes. In addition, the anti-inflammatory properties of these varieties will make the bags disappear. Put very cold water in a cup and dip two tea bags into it. Drain them and take them out. Then lie down with your eyes closed. On them, place the frozen bags and leave them until they acquire a normal temperature. When this happens, wet them again and repeat. You can do this for up to half an hour.

Cucumber

This vegetable helps to drain the liquid from the bags that form under the eyes. It is also very effective when they appear due to allergies. Its astringent properties cause blood vessels to constrict, which relieves inflammation.

Lie down and place a slice of cucumber over each eye. Let them sit on your eyelids for up to 15 minutes.

Cold water

Sometimes all you need is a little cold water, as bags are often caused by poor circulation in your face.

Wash your face with cold water to stimulate circulation. This will cause the swelling to go down in a matter of minutes. You can add ice if you want, but you shouldn’t apply that much cold for more than a few seconds.

Another option is to wet a clean cloth with cold water, and place it under and around your eyes using very light pressure.

massage the area

With the tips of your fingers, you can gently dab on the bags. This will help drain the fluid. Be careful not to apply too much pressure.

Alternatively, close your eyes and lightly press your ring finger to the undereye area. Move your finger in an arc from the inner to the outer end. Repeat the movement 10 or 15 times, always being careful not to press too hard. Then do the same on the other eye. Give yourself these massages every morning, before you get out of bed.

Keep hydrated

When your body does not receive the amount of water it needs, it accumulates in different areas. The same thing can happen around the eyes. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to prevent swelling. For the same reason, it will also help you reduce your daily salt intake and incorporate foods such as watermelon, grapes and cucumber, which have a lot of water, into your diet.

Sleep well

As lack of sleep is one of the factors that contributes to the formation of bags under the eyes, it is important that you sleep between 7 and 8 hours per day. Resting with your head slightly elevated will also prevent its appearance, as it will help prevent fluid from accumulating in that area. For the same reason, you should lie on your back.
