How much does it cost to travel to Bangkok?
Although I have spent time in Bangkok, 4 days seems perfect to give you a good idea of the Thai capital (although if you stay longer you will surely continue to find new things to discover). In this way, 4 days in Bangkok cost 316 USD, about 6,320 Mexican pesos. And this is a moderate budget, in which you stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel, move by public transport as well as taxi by app and do the main paid activities.
If it seems high, you can make the trip more economically by staying in a hostel, looking for local food and eliminating paid activities. This way your budget would be only 115 USD for the 4 days. To continue; the details.
How much does a hotel cost in Bangkok?
A room in a 3/4 star hotel with a pool is around 50 USD per night, considering that the room is shared, 25 USD per person. For 4 nights we would talk about 100 USD.
I am referring to good accommodations in tourist areas. If you’re wondering which hotels are in this price range, here are some examples:

However, if you are a backpacker, the cost of accommodation can be reduced (15 USD per night) and I am talking about very well-rated hostels.
How much does it cost to eat in Bangkok?
If you are looking to have breakfast in a 3-star hotel the cost is around 200 bahts or 5 USD. Price that can be reduced if you are looking for more local food options. As for the rest of the food:
- Meal at local restaurant with water or soft drink: 5 USD
- Dinner at a local restaurant with water or soft drink: 5 USD
- A beer in a bar 3 USD.
- Street snack (e.g. fruit): 0.50 – 1 USD
If we round up 20 USD per day we would talk about 80 USD for the 4 days per person.
How much do Bangkok’s top attractions cost?
As for the main paid attractions in Bangkok:
- Visit the Grand Palace: 500 Baht
- Visit Wat Pho: 200 Baht
- Visit Wat Arun: 100 Baht
- Visit Wat Saket: 50 Baht
In total, we are talking about 850 Baht, that is, about 23 USD.
👉 To this I would recommend adding a tour to the outskirts of Bangkok, there is one in which you can visit the famous floating market of Bangkok, Damnoen Saduak, the market that is placed on the train tracks and the famous ruins of Ayutthaya. How much does it cost to get around in Bangkok?
Bangkok is a big city, so walking won’t always be the option. Of course, depending on the means of transportation you choose, the cost will change and here I describe from the cheapest to the most expensive.
- Getting around by public bus is very cheap, journeys usually do not exceed 0.50 USD.
- The next alternative, most popular among travelers, is the subway or elevated subway. The cost varies by distance but is usually approximately 1 USD.
- Getting around by taxi or taxi by app will be the next option and the cost varies depending on the journey. Important. Uber is not used here but there is Grab or Uber as an alternative.
- Finally, in many cases the most expensive thing will be to move by tuk tuk and although it is not the most expensive, by not having fixed rates, many drivers abuse the costs for travelers.
If you walk, get around by public bus and take a few trips by subway, you can spend less than 12 USD in total.
In my case, combining transportation (bus, metro and Grab) I spent 20 USD in total.
How much does the visa cost to enter Bangkok?
Although not everyone requires a visa to enter Thailand, there are nationalities that do, such as Mexico, and this has a cost of 2,200 bahts that must be paid in local currency and cash upon arrival and corresponds to about 60 USD.
