The relationship between pastthe Present and the future It is something that we must take into account when working History. As we have already seen, History deals with the study of past of the societies human. But the past cannot be thought of as something disconnected from the others. time: the present and the future.
The Present it is the time we are living and -therefore- it is the time from which we study the past. So our interests and concerns in the present influence how we view the past. For example, when studying the History of Ancient Greece we ask ourselves very different questions from those that scholars of the Middle Agesor the men of Renaissance.
The Present is projected towards future. This means that our present actions are oriented towards something that we want to happen in the future. This happens in everyday life and also in the study of history. A good example is one of the reasons why studying History is useful:
“We study History {the past} because it helps us to learn {in the Present} of our mistakes, so as not to make them again {in the future}”.
