Troy was a big city, full of walls to be able to defend its inhabitants and be prepared to fight with the bad guys. In Troy ruled the king Priam who had two sons, Paris a man who stood out for his beauty wherever he went and the other was Hectora brave and strong man.

The story begins when prince paris I was walking through the city of Sparta (in Greece) and suddenly saw a woman of an unforgettable beauty called Helenhe immediately fell at her feet but there was a problem, Helena was not just any maiden if she did not wife of King Menelaus of Greece.

Can you imagine what happened next?

Prince Paris without thinking for a moment decided take Helen with him to the lands of Troy without her husband’s knowledge, but of course, the King Menelaus he soon missed her and his fury overwhelmed him.

right away called a meeting to all the kings of Greece so that together declared war on TroyThousands of ships and millions of soldiers set sail for Troy to cleanse the honor of this king and recover the queen.

They managed to reach Troy and surrounded the city, by day they attacked without mercy while at night everyone rested to recover their strength for the next day.

the end of the war

Among the Greeks there was a soldier who stood out among the others for his bravery, Achilles. They had been at war for ten years and there was still no winner but one of the Greek kings, Odysseus, thought that he could build a huge wooden horse on which he put:

«In the grateful hope of a safe return home after an absence of nine years, the Greeks dedicate this offering to Athena»

This horse had a hatch through which the hidden Greek soldiers could enterwhile the rest got on the boats to pretend they were leaving and, as you can imagine, the Trojans believed them and celebrated that the war had finally ended.

While the Trojans feasted, the Greeks got off the horse of wood that had been brought into the city and had broken through the wall. Finally the war ended, the Greeks returned to Troy to participate in the war and support the soldiers who were inside the horse.

The city was completely destroyed and that was the end of Troy.

That is why the Trojan horse episode is so famous, because it is one of the biggest hoaxes ever and it served to win a war.

Is the Trojan War true?
