It’s never good to generalize, but we could say that no boy likes doing homework, right? Or at least, it is not what he likes most in life. The responsibility of doing some of the schoolwork at home is one of the things kids try to avoid if they can.
Although most end up fulfilling their responsibilities.
Edgar Cortez, 14, did not. Recently, this teenager’s parents received a note from her teacher saying that Edgar hadn’t done his homework and asking him to write a letter explaining her reasons.
The teenager decided to listen to the teacher this time and wrote a letter in his own handwriting that left everyone stunned.
When the boy’s aunt read the letter, she was so amused that she decided to upload it to Twitter. From there, it went viral.
Do you want to know what it says?
“I didn’t do my homework because I don’t want to do school work over the weekend. The weekend is a stress-free time to hang out with friends, watch TV, and play video games. I didn’t do it either because it puts me in a bad mood and makes me unhappy. I do what makes me happy because I want to be happy. My mom found gray hair, I don’t want to stress.
In real jobs you do not take homework, unless you are a boss or a teacher. Homework is not a real thing in the real world, so we shouldn’t do it in school, it’s useless. Case Closed: Court Rules in Favor of Edgar Immanuel Cortez in Student vs. Homework Case.”
His letter quickly went viral and everyone started giving their opinion. Although some people disagreed with the boy, most agreed that the arguments were sound and should be evaluated.
So much so that… Even the teacher recognized it! She said that many times the workloads at home are so demanding that children end up rejecting education and hating school.
What do you think? Is Edgar right about doing homework?
