Formal letters are those written communications (missives), which are used within institutional, political, educational, financial, labor, and other similar fields, for which they have a serious nature, they differ from informal letters (family and of friendship), since both the formal letters are focused or addressed to a professional field, as well as use formalisms and a polite and prudent language, far from familiarizations that we could use in other letters such as those addressed to our friends or family , that is, they are contrary in their wording to the familiarity of informal letters.
In other words, formal letters are those that we use to deal with official, public or business matters, they are usually addressed to institutions, groups or people that the sender does not always know, or, where appropriate, to people who have a higher hierarchy within of the company or organization to which you belong.
