When thinking about the renewable energies that we have most at hand, solar is one of the first that we name. From it, electricity can be generated without carbon gas emissions, and continuously, since it only uses sunlight. In addition, thanks to technological innovations, using it has fewer and fewer impediments.
This was what John Hingley and his team at the British company Renovagen thought when they set out to design a high-power photovoltaic array called a Roll-Array.
Roll-Array has the characteristic of being able to be rolled up and unfolded like a carpet, being very flexible and easy to transport, which also makes it possible for solar energy to reach places you would never have imagined.
In addition, its creators claim that these solar panels capable of generating up to 100 kWp; 10 times than other solar panels.
Being able to be rolled up and transported on a truck, it makes it possible to set up a solar field in no more than 5 minutes. When the panels are laid out on the ground, they can be secured to the ground and are capable of withstanding 80+ mph winds. In addition, the batteries are attached to the base of the panels, so no additional mounting is required.
This is ideal for sites with high energy needs and large areas of land that have difficulty accessing electricity via the grid; for example, in cases of areas affected by environmental disasters.
