Between July 23 and 30 will develop the 2nd International Environmental Film Festival (FINCA) of Buenos Aires. Productions that cover social problems related to the defense of the environment from multiple and original points of view will be presented. 29 cinematographic works will be exhibited -feature films, short films and medium-length films- in the sections Mines and Oil, Food Sovereignty, Biodiversity and Sustainability, Waste and pollution. Several of the films will have their pre-release during the Festival. In addition, there will be a retrospective of national environmental cinema with the screening of the films “Desierto verde” by Ulises de la Orden and “Thirst, Invasion gota a gota” by Mausi Martinez. Organized by the DerHumALC Multimedia Institute (IMD), FINCA arose after identifying the need to broaden cultural perspectives towards environmental issues from a social and committed approach.Special activities
- Photographic exhibition “Art and Part of the Change”. The selected photographs will be exhibited to represent both the official image of the 2nd FINCA Festival, as well as each of the thematic sections. It is accompanied by the GoodPlanet Foundation with the presentation of the project “7 billion Others” that presents testimonials on environmental problems and sustainable development.
- Table debate on food sovereignty for the discussion of the defense of the right of the peoples to choose forms of sustainable production and commercialization as opposed to the logic of free and corporate trade. The new forms of energy generation and the challenges related to these new practices, in addition to their environmental and social impact, will also be included in the discussion tables with the projection of specific films.
- Pre-release screening of the documentary “El tesoro del Bosque” carried out by the Directorate of Forests of the Undersecretary of Planning and Environmental Policy, under the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation (SAyDS), which addresses the natural assets and ecosystem services provided by native forests.
- Ecological Art Workshopby Eco Art, which integrates different artistic disciplines with the aim of problematizing and promoting ecological behavior that implies care, respect and conservation of the environment.
