People who try to comply to the letter with a diet, even having the power of conviction to be able to lose weight properly, that is, with adequate exercise and healthy food, often have some difficulties in eliminating fat from certain sites.
This is because we do not work and concentrate as it should be in that particular area. A very peculiar case is that of the side rolls, those that appear on the sides of the waist that are caused by a poor diet and usually by wearing low and very tight pants or jeans.
The number one goal is to achieve an adequate Body Mass Index (BMI) and reduce the percentage of fat mass in the area.
According to doctor Luiz Antonio da Silva, “This area is like a warehouse. If we had to spend a week without eating, our body would resort to the energy resources that accumulate there.” The bad thing is, of course, when the warehouse is full and we don’t exhaust the reserves that we have been accumulating.
Reducing it takes time: at least 45 minutes per exercise session. The reason is easy to explain. “When you get on a bicycle, for example, the energy that is consumed during the first 30/40 minutes comes from the deposits that our body has more at hand: muscle glycogen, phosphocreatine, ATP, carbohydrates… However, fatty acids, which are a long-term source of energy from the fat mass of the floater, do not begin to be significantly consumed until we deplete the short-term ones.”
The doctor, a graduate in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and a technician at the Castellana Sports Club in Madrid, agrees that the best way to eliminate the floater is to do exercises with high energy expenditure, at least three times a week, in 30-minute sections, and recommends three basic exercises.
1. Laterals to the Floor
- In this exercise what we are going to do is use a dumbbell, if you do not have one, then use a full liter bottle of water, of course, to help us with the weight.
- Stand with your legs a little apart without losing balance, at shoulder height is fine, then you are going to lower laterally to the right side using the dumbbell and trying to touch the floor, the other hand bring it up also with another dumbbell .
- You can do this exercise in 8 series of 30 seconds each, for both sides.
2. Laterals Leg touching Elbow
- In the same standing position, now bring both hands to the back of your head and extend your arms perfectly.
- Then raise your right leg trying to make your knee touch your right elbow, remember they are lateral ok.
- Do this exercise for 8 sets of 30 seconds each, on both sides.
3. Side lying
- Lie on your right side, place your legs parallel and even on the floor completely sideways.
- Place your hands on the back of your neck and lift your torso up trying to pinch those annoying love handles.
- Do this exercise for 8 sets of 30 seconds each, on both sides.
Perform this simple routine of 3 exercises every day, with both sides. Practice it for a month and concentrate your results to eliminate the famous “floaters” that bother you so much.
