What’s at Tokyo Disneyland?

Disneyland in Japan began in the early 1980s with the park Tokyo Disneyland, very similar to the original Disneyland that we can find in California. However, over time it has expanded and today we can talk about Tokyo Disney Resort, made up of 2 amusement parks (Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea), a commercial area and several hotels.

In the Tokyo Disneyland park you can find the attractions that have made the Mickey Mouse parks famous, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Little World, Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. While Tokyo DisneySea is a park inspired by the sea and with unique Tokyo attractions.

Is Tokyo Disneyland different from the parks in the United States?

The reality is that the attractions have been completely respected, except for the language, since the main language here is Japanese. As for food, in addition to finding some Disneyland classics like hamburgers or pizza, you can also find Asian food and even popcorn in more than 5 flavors. As for souvenirs, you will find some classics from all the parks but there is also an exclusive collection from Disney Japan.

How much does it cost to go to Tokyo Disneyland?

As in any amusement park, the first expense is the purchase of the ticket. In the case of Tokyo Disneyland, the pass per day costs 7,400 JPY (approximately 70 USD), but as always, the more days you go, the more the cost reduces: 2 days cost 13,200 JPY and four days cost just over 22,000 ¥. However, 1 day is more than enough time to dedicate to each of the 2 parks. What I do advise you is to check discounts for children and seniors.

As for the food, my big surprise was that the prices were very affordable, especially compared to the rest of Tokyo, there were no big differences, here are some examples:

  • Popcorn: 3 USD
  • Soft drink: 2 USD
  • Fast food package (e.g. pizza and soft drink): 6 USD
  • Full meal package in restaurant: 15 to 20 USD
